To provide buildings which fully satisfy Clients' needs, are well designed, aesthetically pleasing, environmentally sound, with minimum maintenance levels and constructed within a controlled building programme and cost framework.

As well as new building work the Practice has considerable experience in maintaining, improving and remodeling a wide range of existing buildings (including listed ones) for either continuing or changed use.

Partners work directly with clients throughout the project. Partners are assisted by a team of qualified project architects, surveyors and technicians as required by the project. We offer a combined service for Architecture and Quantity Surveying and we also work independently with other Professional teams.

A Quality Management System is operated within the office, but because of our relatively small size a formal Quality Assurance system with external audit in accordance with the provisions of BS.5750 has not been initiated at this stage. Quality Management is continually reviewed with a view to eventually complying with BS.5750.

The Practice carries a Professional Indemnity Insurance policy which is reviewed annually. The current policy is with the Colonia Insurance Company (UK) Ltd in the amount of £1,000,000 each and every claim (excess of £2500). The Practice also carries Public Liability Insurance.

The Practice was founded in 1953 by Kenneth Steel . The work undertaken by the practice remains as varied as ever but the way in which it is now produced has changed out of all recognition.

In the early 90’s the Practice embraced computer technology which has now almost completely removed the drawing board as a means of presentation. The Apple Mac computer provided an easy to use platform for the entire office for design, presentation and administration.

1n 2006 after 53 years based in Taunton we decided to take the next logical step and abandon the traditional expensive town centre office which few people had the need to visit and instead work from our home offices.

The same staff and technicians help to run the ‘office’ and prepare the required drawings which thanks to the internet can be digitally pushed around the country between our Clients, Local Authorities, Consultants, Contractors and Developers. Although we continue to visit regularly with our clients our carbon footprint is greatly reduced, we have more productive time, and we are we believe more competitive.
