Holy Trinity VA primary school
occupied the original victorian
school buildings. Four additional
classrooms were housed in two
post war reinforced concrete
HORSA huts which were in poor
structural condition and in urgent
need of replacement.
The new accommodation provides
six classrooms linked in pairs off a
rooflight lit glazed internal streeet.
Each classroom has its own
sanitary accommodation and each
pair of classrooms share a
common practical space. The total
area of the new classroom block is
638m2. |

The site was very restricted and
construction took place in five
operations commencing with an
enabling contract to form a new
playground which then allowed the
construction of the new teaching
block to take place on the site of
the old playground.
The existing buildings were then
partially remodelled and extensive
roof repairs carried out.
This then freed space within the
precast concrete frame huts
allowing them to be demolished.
The contract concluded with
external works to create a car
park on the site of the huts. |
